The ultimate puppy preparation guide
December 17, 2019
Firstly, if you’ve started to build up an anxiety about getting everything just right before your new arrival, you’ve probably gone down the same research rabbit hole as me. You know too much already, my friend! I recommend an end to the research right now, including this blog post - especially if you’ve plumbed the depths and created neat notes like me! Just get yourself ready to enjoy your puppy.
Why are you still reading? Go look at puppy pictures and think about all the things that you two will get up to.
Okay, you’re as bad as me.
Firstly, everyone will tell you just how important the early days are in the development of your new family member. A bad experience early on will have an impact on your friend for the rest of their life. This is where the anxiety and desire to plan and research came from for me. You immediately say to yourself “One false move and I’m going to be living with a cranky dog for a long time”. That is when the initial excitement can turn into anxiety, especially if it is your first puppy. Maybe this will reassure you that everything will be fine.
So, to start off, my notes have neat little titles (because I’m a freak and apparently had lots of time to waste). So I’ll split the posts up the way I’ve organised the notes. Before all of that, though, I suppose I should first introduce you to Betty seeing as though we’re talking about her!
This is Betty before we picked her up:
She’s a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and about 6 weeks old in that photo. Very fat and cute!
Anyway, on with the guide!
